A matched pair of wide black walnut slabs, sawn one after the other from the same log, so the grain mirrors itself when you open them like a book. Each slab is 8 ft 1 in long and 2 1/2 in thick, with chocolate and purple heartwood, cream sapwood along both edges, and bark on the edges. Slab 05 runs 25 to 30 in wide, with a knot near the top end and a dark mineral streak in the lower third. Slab 06 runs 23 to 28 in wide, with a knot and a light sapwood pocket near the top end.

What it builds: Glued edge to edge, a dining or conference table top about 4 to 4 1/2 ft wide and 8 ft long that seats 8. Or a matched pair of desks or wide bar tops.

Green, $1,465 for both slabs, about $16.42 per board foot. Load it and go, you do the drying.

Want it dried? Choose Air dried, $1,835 or Kiln dried, $2,450 (6 to 9% moisture) in the buying options above. Drying takes months, not weeks. We air dry the set on the stack first, then finish it at a commercial kiln if you chose kiln dried. We start the day you order, email you a ready date, and you pick it up when it is done. Rather put down a deposit? $860 holds it while it dries, with the balance at pickup. Send us a message.

Both slabs sell together as one set. One set, one of a kind. Once it sells, it comes off the shelf.
