A matched pair of wide black walnut slabs, sawn one after the other from the same log, so the grain mirrors itself when you open them like a book. Each slab is 8 ft long and 2 1/2 in thick, with figured grain swirling around knots in the upper third, straight dark heartwood below, and wide cream sapwood with bark on both edges. Slab 07 runs 25 to 28 1/2 in wide, with a knot and bark pocket on one edge near the wide end. Slab 08 runs 26 to 29 in wide, with a small knot near the wide end.
